Batura Trek

Batura, the most open and fourth longest glacier in Karakoram, extends for 56 km west of the KKH. Theexceptional scenery of the trek includes 14 peaks above 7000 m and massive ice floes that fall from the Batura Wall to the glacier more than 4000 m.The greater part of the trek is across valleys of ablation and along streams.It affords incremental acclimatization with almost no steep segments and does not pose any significant difficulties.Even the two glacier crossings of the trek are fairly facile. Trekkers also get a glimpse of the unusual way of life of Passu villagers, who tend livestock along the north margin of the glacier in the summer pastures.
