GB remained the center of Buddhism and many remains of religion exist from Tibet to Diamer district.

A large number of tourists from Japan, China and Korea visit the area each year to conduct rituals at their religious sites.

It is about ten kilometers east of Gilgit.It is a carved image of a huge, standing Buddha in Kargha Nala’s cliff-face. The carving, which is also found in a style in Baltistan, possibly dates back to the 7th century.

The elevation is 50 ft.The figure, according to local mythology, is actually a man eating giants or witch who terrorized local residents and was eventually punished by a pir (holy / pious man) to the cliff.
